Hello Dear Readers,
I hope this week finds you doing well. That your relationship with God is growing and you are seeking Him in everything you do. As we continue to do this we are practicing His presence. The more we pay attention to His presence; we are learning what the presence of God is like. We can sense it in our hearts and we can know that He is working in our lives, at that moment. He is always there, but we don’t always sense it.
“The Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded. He went out to meet Asa and said to him, ‘Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach and without the law. But in their distress they turned to the Lord, God of Israel, and sought Him, and He was found by them.’” 2Chronicles 15:1-4
This is one of the most important things to remember, that when we seek God every day, He will be found by us. We can know when God is doing something in our lives in the moment, because we sense His peace in our hearts. Also, it is important to be alert to His promptings so we are able to do what He asks of us, because we are paying attention and listening carefully for His guidance. Me personally, I am calm in the moment God is working through me, doing as He directs, but after when I look back at what He was doing, I am exhilarated by His power working in my life!
There is a down side in this, but it is for us to learn from. When we don’t seek God, He will not be there to guide us, and we are left on our own. This may seem fine in the moment, but when we look back at the situation and realize God was not in it, we then regret not asking God to be there with us. There is a sorrow that follows, but it is good for training us to keep seeking God’s face in all we do. Hopefully we learn from our self reliance and realize God is everything, and all that we need in order to walk in peace, protection, and guidance.
As we grow in our understanding of God’s presence in our lives, we grow in confidence knowing that we are walking each day with Him. This guidance can be so detailed and precise down to each moment as we seek His will for everything we do. For example, “Lord, what should I do about this situation?” Listen for His response and then move forward in obedience to that response.” When you are walking closely with Jesus, He will respond promptly in each moment to moment request for guidance. This is so reassuring, knowing He is helping when we seek His help.
Jesus does not force us to seek Him, He waits for us to turn to Him. The thing to remember though is that He loves you and me so deeply and longs for us to seek Him all day, every day. If this is hard for you to develop, ask Jesus to help you to get better at this. It may not be immediate, but He will give you the material, or people in your life that you need to help you overcome any obstacle that keeps you from doing His will. The key is what do you desire? God knows what is in your heart and what you desire, so if you truly desire to follow Him whole heartedly, He will make a way for you to do this. There is hope for everyone who desires in their heart to follow God each day. But we must act on those desires and work towards them. God will provide for you in beautiful ways as you grow in Him, each step of faith you make in obedience toward a closer walk with Him makes God’s heart fill with great joy, because you desire to know Him more intimately.
“And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve Him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.” 1Chronicles 28:9
“I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. Psalm 34:4-5
“Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always. Psalm 105:4
“I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me find Me.” Proverbs 8:17
Jesus said: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
Join me everyday as we seek God’s face in all we do. I know you will be blessed by His presence and in the process, you will be a blessing to God!
We will continue reading IIChronicles 10-24 for one more week.
Blessings,
Tricia
